MARCH 2010
From the
Rascal Flatts’ single Why, “Every forty seconds someone asks
why?” The same could be said of a typical board of directors
meeting of the Purchasing Management Association of Western
New England. As we discuss issues before us, someone
invariable asks why? This time of year the why’s become more
frequent as we begin the planning process for next years
programs. Why this topic, why this speaker, why the venue-why,
why, why. This questioning process is critical to the board of
directors making informed decisions on programs.
Now I have a question for you. Why don’t more of you attend
our meetings, tours or seminars? I ask why, because we want to
provide those programs you will attend. We have distributed a
questionnaire in the last few weeks and have received only a
few responses. Again, why did most of you not respond to the
questionnaire? Without your input the board of directors will
make the best decision it can on programs for next year.
When this happens and the programs don’t appeal to you or
the topic you wanted is among the missing, don’t ask why.
If you have
ideas or suggestions, look for another copy of the
questionnaire in your email in the next few days or email me
at
pmawne@yahoo.com.
Just a few
words about our March seminar. This year we have two
outstanding speakers coupled with timely topics and supplier
exhibits. Marie Bouvier-Newman will speak on Supplier
Innovation and Gerri King; PhD. will speak on Conflict
resolution. Register now for this informative seminar.
