PROFESSIONAL GROWTH THROUGH EDUCATION
Today's Procurement Professional
is challenged to continue to provide not only reduced costs, but to locate and
bring on board new suppliers that will provide a competitive edge. How do we
provide innovation to our organizations? The morning session of the March 18,
2010 full day seminar will provide you the framework not only to obtain
innovative ideas from suppliers, but to put the innovative ideas to work for
your company. While we are developing our innovative approach to
purchasing/supply chain management conflicts will arise both with our supply
base and within our own company. How do we identify and resolve these conflicts
early and quickly in the process so we can obtain the maximum benefit from our
ideas? The afternoon session will provide a framework for understanding,
identifying and resolving conflict.

8:00 – 11:45 a.m. Workshop I – Fostering Supplier Innovation By Marie Bouvier-Newman.
In today’s competitive,

Very few companies will survive if they believe they can operate tomorrow the
same way they do today.
Where best to foster innovation
than in our supplier and service provider relationships? How can you and your
business partners think differently and collaborate effectively to solve
problems and create new and better solutions? It is time to step up to the plate
and take your business to the next level.

insight into:
·
How to define innovation in the supply management environment
·

Workshop II
- Conflict Resolution Through Effective Communication
By Gerri King,
Ph.D.
Conflicts
surrounding goals and priorities, administrative procedures or employee and
customer relations are unsettling. When handled constructively, however,
conflicts encourage creative solutions, lead to unity and produce change. By
identifying and confronting conflict in its early stages, time is saved,
personnel turnover costs are reduced, and efficiency is improved.
The two major
reasons for conflict in organizations are role confusion and lack of clear
process. If a big or small change is present, that is an extra strain on both.
In addition
to exploring these concepts, this session looks at individual behaviors and
differences surrounding conflict and helps develop a creative conflict
resolution process that acknowledges emotional and power issues, encourages the
sharing of individual points of view, and works cooperatively toward developing
and implementing solutions.
Objectives: To
understand the nature of conflict; individual conflictual styles; and learn a
beneficial conflict resolution process. Content:
-The dynamics and
myths associated with conflict
- How to deal with
the effects of both positive & negative change
-The impact of gender
and cultural differences
-The exploration of
personal conflictual styles
-Evaluation of the
best ways to approach conflict
-Breaking an impasse
-Creative conflict
resolution
2:15 – 2:30 p.m.
